The Japan-US Sustainable Transitions Network (JUSTra Network)

Japan Foundation Center of Global Partnership funded project

ABOUT

The JUSTra Network is designed to expand capacity for innovation in consumption and production through engaged research that is actionable.

The Network will:

  • Determine what are the spaces for cooperation and collaboration between the US and Japan that facilitate sustainability transformation (in both countries and throughout the world looking at policy domains broadly defined).
  • Facilitate Japan-US dialogue around this area.
  • Create connections between researchers and decision-makers in the policy arena and the business sector to encourage collaboration.

Overview of the project:

  • Identifying opportunities through dialogue among scholars, policymakers, and business leaders in Japan and the US to develop practical steps forward.

Target issues/priority areas:

  • Sustainable consumption and production, focusing mainly on areas of food, fashion, and energy.

Background study involves:

  • Mapping the existing areas of sustainability cooperation between the US and Japan
  • How sustainability transformation happens, and what are the potential areas to stimulate transformation?
